Current Information:St Erme Communal Cemetery, France
James Davies died from wounds on 14th September, 1914 and he is buried in a cemetery at St Erme, to the north of the River Aisne. On that date, his battalion, the 2nd King's Royal Rifle Corps of 2 Brigade, 1st Division were some miles further south and in action during the Battle of the Aisne. The battalion diary offers no explanation for this but it was likely that he was a prisoner of war at the time. |
